Almost without exception, every technological innovation found in the modern cycling shoe was initially pioneered by Sidi.

1960 - Dino Signori founds the first SIDI workshop in Maser (Treviso), Italy.

1973 - TITANIUM is the first cycling shoe designed and produced Sidi. The Titanium revolutionizes cleat attachment with the use of adjustable screws; cyclists can now dial in correct foot position on the pedals, and the century-old practice of nailing cleats onto cycling shoes quickly becomes obsolete.

1979 - CYCLE SPORT becomes is the first cycling shoe with a nylon sole, which in addition to increasing stiffness, has the tremendous advantage of maintaining consistent stiffness even in extreme temperatures.

1983 - REVOLUTION is the first modern cycling shoe. With the Revolution, SIDI pioneers a Velcro® closure system instead of laces. Combined with a nylon sole, the Revolution defines the overall look and format of cycling shoes for the next quarter-century.

1985 - SIDI produces the first-ever MTB and Cyclocross shoes with lugged rubber soles.

1989 - GENIUS. By 1989 clipless pedals had become the peloton standard, but shoe closures were not yet robust enough to work as well as clips and straps in securing the foot within the shoe and allowing for easy adjustment during pedaling. SIDI studies Velcro® alternatives to better support the athlete’s foot during the powerful full-circle loads pedaling. The result is the first micro-adjust buckle in the cycling industry, called MICRO LOCK. The Micro Lock buckle has the added advantage of being more easily adjustable while racing…a tremendous boon to cyclists with swollen feet on long stages.

1990 - DOMINATOR and CHALLENGE. Making a quintessentially Italian fashion statement, SIDI transforms the look of the peloton with first multicolored shoe and bi-colored sole.

1993 - TECNO and MTB TECNO: Sidi pioneers the first monofilament line buckle. To maximize power and efficiency while pedaling, the TECNO and MTB TECNO combine the popular MICRO LOCK SYSTEM with a closure system designed specially for the front of the shoe, the MICRO LOCK EVOLUTION.

1997 - SIDI continues their closure system leadership in 1997 with the development of the Spider Buckle, featured on SHADOW and MTB GHOST shoes. The Spider Buckle allows for even more incremental click-by-click adjustment while cycling.

1999 - The SRS or Sole Replacement System, featured on the MTB ACTION SRS shoe allows offroad cyclists to replace worn tread on a convenient, modular basis.

2002 - The ERGO 1 CARBON introduces the use of High Security Velcro®, featuring integrated locking polymer teeth that engage with each other when the strap is closed. This feature makes the closure more secure and effectively creates the first no-slip strap in cycling history.

2006 - The ERGO 2 CARBON introduces a revolutionary new fit technology: the Heel Cup System. The Heel Cup System reinforces the top of the heel cup and improves fit by closing the back of the shoe more securely around the top of the rider’s heel, preventing heel lift.

2007 - MTB DRAGON 2 CARBON SRS: SIDI combines the patented Sole Replacement System (SRS), with a carbon insert from the heel to the toe. The carbon insert and replaceable Dragon SRS tread are bolted to a narrow, durable nylon frame. The technical Heel Cup System is upgraded to the Adjustable Heel Retention Device, dialing in fit across the Achilles’ Tendon and heel with the turn of a screw.

2010 - SIDI pioneers a proprietary aerospace material, Aeronet Light, in sole construction. The Ergo 2, Genius 6.6 and T2.6 drop 60 grams a pair with zero loss of strength, durability, or stiffness.
